Madras Presidency, Silver Half Pagoda, 21.20g, (1808 AD 2nd Issue), Obv: Gopuram of temple with stars either side, on a ribbon, the ends seperated by a star the value in HALF PAGODA, 9 stars each side, value in english and persian, Rev: The diety Vishnu surrounded by dotted circles the value around in in tamil ' Arai pu vara kun', and in Telugu 'Arai pu vara hun'. Note: This coin is struck with small dies as the legend in english is very small and the first letter in telugu is retrograted. Prid. 169. Toned, Almost Extremely Fine, Extremely Rare. |
