Satavahanas, Gautamiputra Satakarni, (c. 60-84 AD) overstriking on Nahapana, Silver Dramma, 1.79g, 16.30x15.81mm, Obv: Overtype shows a three-arched hill(Chaitya) struck by the Satavahanas, Undertype has Nahapana’s bust to right with traces of crude Greek legend, Rev: Overtype has the modified Ujjain symbol of Satavahanas, Undertype has Spear and thunderbolt symbols of Nahapana. Ref: Pieper, 2749. (These overstruck coins are historically significant as they stand testimony of the upperhand gained by the Satavahanas over the Kshaharatas in the later part of the 1 Cen AD, thus changing the course of ancient Deccan).
