Gwalior, Silver Rupee, 11.50g, Shahjahanpur Mint, in the name of Shah Alam II, RY 1(8), Trishul as a mint mark. Very fine, rare. Shahjahanpur is presently known as “Shajapur” and is located in central Madhya Pradesh. There is also a Shahjahanpur in UP and could have been a contender for identifying this mint as a Rohila issue but the style, date and mint mark on this coin make it certain that it is struck under Gwalior at Shajapur in Malwa. KM Unlisted. |
